A healthy environment in your mouth is very important to prevent illness and disease. Microorganisms in the mouth can cause disease when they get into the bloodstream causing infections and other problems. Oral pathogens – viruses and bacteria may be linked to certain types of cancer.
Viruses in the Mouth
It is estimated that 15 – 20 % of all cancers are caused by viruses. Viruses can trigger cancer by suppressing the immune system and even altering genes.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of more than 100 viruses that may contribute to oral cancers. Epstein Bar virus, Hepatitis B and C viruses and the HIV virus are also linked to certain types of cancers.
Bacteria in the Mouth
Bacteria in the mouth can lead to serious health problems, even colorectal (colon or rectal) cancer. Bacteria in the mouth has been linked to stillborn babies when the bacteria moves from the mouth to the uterus. Bacterial imbalances also contribute to inflammation in the body and may activate cancer cells.
Mercury and Fluoride
Mercury amalgams (silver fillings) and fluoride are very toxic and should be avoided at all costs. Mercury is a heavy metal and can poison the brain, central nervous system and kidneys.
Fluoride has absolutely no benefit whatsoever and poses serious health risks. It can disrupt the endocrine and immune systems, contribute to arthritis, infertility, fractures and more.
Improve Your Oral Health
There are several ways you can destroy harmful oral microorganisms without using drugs or chemicals. Here are a few suggestions
Hydrogen Peroxide – Take a swig of 3% hydrogen peroxide after brushing your teeth once and week. Hold it in your mouth for 10 – 15 minutes. It tends to foam up so you may need to spit some out after a minute or so. 3% Hydrogen peroxide can be mixed into a paste with baking soda and used as toothpaste.
Baking soda – Promotes beneficial bacteria in the mouth by neutralizing the acid that pathogenic bacteria thrive in. Use alone or mixed with hydrogen peroxide and a drop of peppermint oil.

Diet – Avoid sugar and processed food. Eating fermented foods such as kefir, yogurt, sauerkraut, etc. helps to promote a healthy oral environment.
